Not-So-Speedy Dressage

From Endurance to Dressage

What to Do?

Talk about a first world problem …

I have three $10.00 Reward Certificates from Dover as well as a $10.00 off promo code (CM14DTHANKS) when I spend $75.00 or more. The problem is that there is nothing that I need right now. The promo code expires at the end of November, but the certificates have a slightly longer shelf life.
Picture
I definitely do not need any more saddle pads or breeches, and I am good on bell boots and other leg wraps. My shampoos and conditioners are all new. I could maybe use some Effax leather soap, but that's not anywhere near $40.

There are two things I'd kind of like - a Goode Rider Regal Show Shirt and a new pair of Mudruckers.
Picture
I really want this ...
The Goode Rider Regal Show Shirt runs $76.99. I love this shirt. I wouldn't have to wear a stock tie, and when coats are waived, it would be much cuter than a plain white shirt.
Picture
I actually need these … isn't the purple cool?
On the other hand, I need a new pair of Mudruckers, $74.99. I generally keep a "good" pair to wear to work on wet and rainy days or to wear to the cabin. When that pair gets a bit worn, they become my barn pair, and I get a new "nice" pair. I recently demoted my good ones to barn shoes which leaves me with nothing clean to wear on wet days. Yard duty (supervising the playground in the morning for 30 minutes), can get really cold without some warm shoes.

I do have a birthday coming up, and of course Christmas is also around the corner. There is no way my husband would buy me the Mudruckers. He hates buying stuff that is completely utilitarian. A cute shirt on the other hand is slightly more his style. I think a pair of purple boots are calling my name.

Hahaha... I have this same problem! Everyone's having sales and I feel like I should use my coupons, but the only things I really NEED are... oh, like, nothing.

Although I'm sure the horses would LOVE it if I ordered $75 worth of treats.

i'd buy the boots and ask for the show shirt as a gift... but that's based on east coast seasonal motivations (ie, boots would get used NOW, and shirt isn't seasonally appropriate, so if it doesn't come as a gift i'd still have time to buy it myself before next year...) so your mileage may vary :) fun problems to have!

That's exactly what my rationale ended up being. Good call!

Shirt! Love the shirt and it's more fun than boots :)

Agreed, but I can't use the shirt for a while, and I need boots now. The shirt will come!

Shirt as a present, boots now! If you've got the coupons, use them!

My husband got me the white pad I use at horse shows. He was like, "Are you sure you really want this for your birthday? It's not very fun." I love useful gifts. My husband finally got on board too, unless it's something he really wants.

We've come to the conclusion that we don't need more things, but everyone pitching in at the holidays for useful things (like the new garage door opener our house needs) makes life easier on a pair of young new homeowners. My husband and I were talking and were like, "I wonder if in lieu of getting us whatever our parents were planning on getting us, we can ask for a garage door opener?" And we were most thrilled when they said sure! Very sad! Haha!

A girl after my own heart. We've bought washing machines, toaster ovens, mixers, and on and on for each other over the years. As we get older though, hubby wants to get me fun stuff and less practical stuff. But then, we've been together 24 years so practical can get boring. :0)
