Not-So-Speedy Dressage
From Endurance to Dressage
I'll be honest. I am tired. I do most of my writing over the weekend or early in the morning before work. I was pretty busy this weekend celebrating Hubby's birthday and showing at HDEC (four hours round trip driving) that I didn't do much writing. So hear I sit in bed at an hour far past my bedtime cranking out what will be for you, today's post. Good thing I don't have much more to add about the show.
Training Level Test 1 went much as Intro C had. The judge did say afterwards that I did a better job of keeping my hands lower, but It didn't influence Sydney's way of going. He was still tense. I am not disappointed though. I showed Speedy at Introductory Level for two and a half seasons before I finally felt that we could tackle Training Level. I've shown Sydney at Inro A & B once, and we've already moved on to Intro C and T1. And our scores at these two tests were acceptable. Success?! I think so.

I think so too...;) After my show last month, I am right there with you on having a dressage test where the best you can say is that it could have been worse! Its hard to put so much time, effort, and $$ into something only to feel "meh" about it. Sounds like your judge was doing exactly what they are supposed to do at schooling shows - give scores and comments that help you improve, without being too negative, to help riders build confidence. Relaxation is challenging, but rhythm (and more shows) is the only way! I'm in the boat with you!!
