Not-So-Speedy Dressage
From Endurance to Dressage
After several days of very lengthy posts, I thought we might all need a break! Here's a video of Speedy G "self-loading." He makes it look ridiculously easy. For those struggling with trailer loading, just know that Speedy G didn't start out quite this amiable. In my experience, the best way to get them this easy going is to load and go ... A LOT!
As a side note, I shot this clip on Friday morning at about 7:15 a.m. I walked Speedy straight from his stall (where breakfast had just been served), up to the trailer door. There was no practicing. This is him just getting in like he's been trained to do. (Please excuse the flip flops - I KNOW they're not appropriate barn foot-ware.)

Wow! Thanks for the reply. I think that I would want a step-up, too. The ramp is really awkward for me to drop and raise. I really like that there is room for you to walk into the trailer with your horse. I would read future posts about trailer loading or driving a rig!

Val - you've given me some inspiration for future blog posts. I went out today and took a ton of pictures in and out of the trailer. I can't guarantee that they'll be interesting or helpful, but there will be photos! :0)

Karen, one time I was taking both Dealer and Gambler to the chiropractor, and had Gambler over eating some nice, green grass. I had to take some stuff out of the manger in the trailer before loading him. As I walked away from the trailer, Gambler walked over to the trailer and truly "self loaded". He was not being left behind again! I think he misses his endurance life. lol

Pretty funny, Lori! Speedy hasn't completely self-loaded, but I have to be careful about watching him or I know he will! :0) Comments are closed.
