My 5 Things: It's All Good!

Happy New Year!

Lori O., the only photographer who has ever made Speedy and me look good (more on that soon), shared this clever idea just before Christmas. Every time something good happens during 2013, you're supposed to note it on a small piece of paper and deposit it into a jar where it will be read at the end of the year. I made five of the jars and shared them with four friends. The top of the jar reads, It's All Good!

A recent ride on both boys could fill the jar with all the many ways they were good to me. Sydney was happy and working so nicely.  I actually enjoyed every moment of the ride and had a grin from ear to ear during the left lead canter.

Speedy was simply FANTASTIC. We worked on three-loop serpentines, turns up the center-line, turns at C, and 20-meter circles. I couldn't believe how easy it all was. He felt so put together. After a few different patterns, I came up the center-line for a fabulous halt at X. That is going in the jar!

We finished up with walk to canter transitions. I only needed to do one in each direction; they were that good. That is also going in the jar.

I can't wait to read all of these little moments of happiness next December. What will be in your jar?

Oh my gosh, the jar idea sounds great I think I may do that! Happy New Year!

Hi, Emmi! I need the jar as I tend to focus on the negative things that happen in an attempt to "fix" everything. I decided to quit fixing for a while and just enjoy. :0)

Hey, I've seen lots of photos of you and Speedy looking good! The teaser on Facebook did look extra cool though, I give you that :).

The latest thing that would be going in my jar is Elvin fitting my dressage saddle and really coming along in his schooling. It's not hugely dramatic but it does give me a quiet sense of satisfaction.

Kelly - I've only seen the Facebook album (around 50 images), but I know there are MANY more. I suspect she posted only the nice ones though. I am curious to see some of the other images though as we did some goofy things too.

I can't wait to read more about Elvin. Some pictures would also be nice for those of us in winter!

Yeah - I've seen some good looking pictures too. ;D

That jar idea is great - I'll be following suit. Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes for a happy, healthy New Year to you and the boys.

CFS - there aren't very many good pictures, that's for sure! Lori is an amazing photographer though and can make anyone look beautiful!

My jar is on my kitchen counter so that I can see it each morning and evening. I am going t work very hard to try and stuff it throughout the year. Instead of grouching over the bad stuff each day, i want to think of a good thing that happened. There must be something good each day!

Happy New Year to you and Val!

Jar idea is FANTASTIC! I'm going to work on making on of those and I think I will keep it in my truck. That way it'll be with me no matter what city I'm in.

Erica, keeping the jar in your car is probably a great idea for someone always on the move. I am perpetually trying to EMPTY my car so that certainly wouldn't work for me! Hope your vacation has gone well and that you're feeling rejuvenated for the next school session. :0)

Fab idea! I plan to make one for my daughter, Alexis. She did not stick with her blog - thinks is takes too much time - but she might be more inclined to write a quick note and slip it in a jar.

Kelly - I wish I could take credit it for the idea, but it's not mine. Even so, I like the idea and am going to try very hard to follow through myself. :0)
