It's Like Christmas

A week or two ago I wrote about receiving a gift card from my mom. You wouldn't believe how fast I filled up my cart at Riding Warehouse. It's easy to do when the money isn't yours. A few days ago, my box arrived, and it was deliciously large.

While we all know that good things come in little packages, big packages are just as amazing. When I get one of these orders with a lot of stuff, I always make a big production over the opening of the box. It really is like Christmas in May. I first cut the tape; we have an actual pair of scissors for just this job. I slowly peel back the layers of brown paper, and then I peek inside.

Since I had ordered so many different things, I actually forgot what all of them were. As I pulled out each item, I gave a little squeal of excitement.

• The Ovation Glitz Riding Helmet is of course the coolest thing I ordered. I absolutely love these helmets. Not only are they super pretty, but at just under $130, you get a ton of style without spending half a grand. Besides being pretty and relatively inexpensive, this helmet fits perfectly and is super comfortable to wear. 
• Although not nearly as sexy as a new helmet is, I was just as happy about a gallon of Pyranha Wipe N Spray. It's expensive stuff at $64.99, but a gallon should last through the summer, especially since I have half a bottle left from last year. Speedy is a bit sensitive to other fly sprays, but Pyranha never bothers him, and it also works for Izzy. 
• Speaking of fly protection, Speedy needed a new fly mask, and the Cashel Crusader ($25.99) works perfectly for him. The mesh is a bit softer than some of the other fly masks out there, which is great for his sensitive eyes. The fabric around the ears is also smoother which he appreciates. I love the double velcro closure which makes it harder for Speedy's "friends" to take it off.
• As I was grooming Izzy's tail on Sunday, I sprayed his tail generously with my old bottle of Carr & Day & Martin Canter Mane/Tail Conditioner Spray ($22.99) since I have a brand new bottle waiting to be put into the rotation. I love how this stuff both works and smells, but like most hair conditioners, it is a little pricey, so I am usually a bit more frugal in how wildly I spray it.
• And just because I could, I also bought a new pair of C4 socks ($10.95). By this point, I think I have owned nearly every color except the red and navy, so those are the ones I picked. I am big fan of the Noble Outfitters Over the Calf Peddies as well, but in all honesty, the C4s are now my favorite. I really like the small band of compression fabric over the arch, and they seem to wear like iron while still being stretchy and thin enough for tall boots.
