Not-So-Speedy Dressage
From Endurance to Dressage
... only better because there are as many horses as people! Please don't sue me, California Dressage Society or Tass Jones; I admit that I am "borrowing" your publication and photo, but I am giving you full credit for the image. (gulp) The photo appears in the October issue of Dressage Letters, the monthly publication of the California Dressage Society. I simply forgot to share this earlier! All of the winners from each level are pictured in the article as well as the class placings and scores. I know it's dumb, but I was quite pleased to see my picture published. And after nearly two months, I am finally proud of my RAAC effort. Our Introductory Level score was quite good, 67%, and even though the Training Level score wasn't brilliant, 57.2%, it was in the range of the other riders. Now that some time has passed, I can say that am proud of the fact that we made it to RAAC and were able to compete with some pretty fine riders and horses. Thank you, CDS, for recognizing the efforts of your membership.

About the Writer and RiderI am a lifelong rider.
I began endurance riding in 1996 where I ultimately completed five, one-day 100 mile races, the 200-mile Death Valley Encounter, and numerous other 50, 65, and 75 mile races. I began showing dressage in 2010. Welcome to my dressage journey. About Speedy GSpeedy went from endurance horse to dressage horse. After helping me earn a USDF Bronze medal in the summer of 2020, he is now semi-retired. Speedy is a 2004, 15'1 hand, purebred Arabian gelding. His Arabian Horse Registry name is G Ima Starr FA.
About IzzyIzzy was started as a four-year old and then spent the next 18 months in pasture growing up. I bought him as a six-year old, and together, we are showing at the lower levels. He is a 2008, 16'3 hand warmblood gelding. His Rheinland Pfalz-saar International (RPSI) name is Imperioso.
