Not-So-Speedy Dressage
From Endurance to Dressage
I am not riding in the show, but I am going. JL and her students are heading to a local schooling show here in town this morning. I don't know much about hunter/jumper shows, but I love to go and watch and cheer for my friends. One friend in particular groaned and said I shouldn't bother since her lessons haven't been going so well. I told her she was nuts! I am going, and I am going to give her the finger with a big smile! That's not to say that dressage is better than jumping, but it's the best finger to wave at a horse show - any horse show. I think it would even work at a reining show. After the show, I'll still have plenty of time to cruise by my own barn to ride both my boys. Sydney has been ding so well that I don't dare skip a nice riding day. Speedy on the other hand was a stinker yesterday so we have some extra work to do today.
Best of luck today, Ladies! 12/9/2012 12:03:00 am
I love H/J shows! I never plan on getting "stuck" in one discipline or one show type. I bet you'll have a blast and maybe add a few H/J schooling shows to your show calendar this coming year :) (If nothing else the flat classes are a great way to just get your boys out and about for experience!)

I never even thought of going for the flat classes - what a great idea! I am going to find their 2013 dates and look into that. Thanks for the idea! 12/10/2012 12:33:19 am
No problem - the great thing about H/J flat classes are there are more than 1 horse per class and it helps desensitize them to schooling ring chaos. I've also found H/J shows to be quite a bit less expensive than the dressage shows, making it easier to get them into multiple classes :) Comments are closed.
