Not-So-Speedy Dressage
From Endurance to Dressage
I never remember to celebrate the days I got Speedy or Izzy ... or any of the other horses that I've owned. I bought Izzy the day after Thanksgiving, so this year I remembered his "Gotcha" day, but I didn't write a post about it. That means I've had him one whole year now. Of course, I am not that interested in reminiscing about his first few months as they strike me as bittersweet. While I am delighted to have him in my little family, the circumstances surrounding his first few months in my ownership are less than happy ones. I am looking forward to his second "Gotcha" anniversary! Speedy's "Gotcha" Day, which actually happened on December 8, 2007, brings back lots of fun memories. Eight years later, that dude has turned out to be all that I had hoped for. Speedy is definitely the poster child for "Give it Time." It took at least three years for him to grow up and act his age. Every time another birthday rolled around, I swore I would never buy another three year old ... or a four year old ... or even a six year old!
At eleven years young, he has finally lived up to his name - G Ima Starr FA. Happy Gotcha Day, Speedy G!

Wow, Speedy's mane is SO DARK!!! 12/8/2015 05:46:42 pm
It's very typical for gray Arabs to be born with dark dapples (Speedy was) and dark manes and tails that lighten with age. I am pretty "lucky" that Speedy's mane and tail still have color. By his age, they've usually gone white already. :0)
