Not-So-Speedy Dressage
From Endurance to Dressage
Believe it not, Louisiana and I are joining the Tejon Hounds this morning for a fox hunt (see flyer below)!
A friend here in town sent me the flyer and asked if I was interested. I immediately scoffed and reached for the delete key. But then I paused. Why not go fox hunting? It actually sounded like a lot of fun, but since I have never been fox hunting, I did a ton of Googling to figure out what NOT to wear, do, or say. It all seemed pretty reasonable so I sent my friend an email saying that we would love to go. While the hunt requires formal attire, most of my dressage wardrobe will work. My black coat isn't quite right, but for this more friendly hunt, it will do. I have tan breeches and a tie with a plain stick pin, but I don't have the "correct" color of gloves; mine are either white or black. I think I'll go with black. My show helmet has a velveteen finish so it should be suitable as well. The foxhunters wear plain boots with no laces so I'll need to wear my dressage boots instead of my more comfy field boots. The one item I am missing is the yellow vest! Definitely more to this story, so stay tuned!
