Not-So-Speedy Dressage
From Endurance to Dressage
Friday's are the day we usually wear our school t-shirts or better yet, your own classroom t-shirt. I have at least 15 shirts that bear my school's logo, we're the Leo B. Hart Hawks, and another pile of my own classroom's t-shirts. In the very beginning, back when I was teaching kindergarten, we were Sweaney's Sweeties. When I moved to 6th grade, we were Sweaney's Scorpions. For the past 15 years though, we've been Sweaney's Stallions. That's been the best fit. Obviously. I've changed my shirts several times over the years. For a while, they were navy blue and sported a much more cartoon-like image of a horse. This is the first year for this shirt, and I really love it. Each teacher chooses his or her own logo and mascot. I don't know why it took me so long to embrace my roots. The kids liked being Scorpions, but I always wanted an equine motif. When I changed schools and moved to a 4th grade classroom, I made the switch to Stallions and haven't looked back. Until I retire, we're Sweaney's stallions. TGIF and enjoy your weekend!

School shirts! My husband is involved in producing the high school musical each year, and they always have a hoodie with the theme. There's been Fame, Grimm, Dracula, and such. They make up a kind of club at his high school, with the actors, musicians, and teachers wearing these hoodies. They make for a uniform of sorts that he doesn't have to shop as often as other teachers for clothes. I love them. I had no idea you had similar things for your school! 12/13/2019 11:56:10 am
I love the way your husband thinks. I also do another shirt for my kids involved in a reading group that we call Battle of the Books. After reading 30 specific titles, we go to a county-wide competition that quizzes the kids on the books. Each year the kids design their shirts which is always fun.
You have school shirts, I have summer reading shirts! 12/14/2019 05:47:48 am
I also order Battle of the Books t-shirts for my BOB team which they design. Out themes have included Minions, Star Wars, Disney, and baseball. Dragon, huh ... we might need to use that! For my own classroom t-shirts, I always order one extra for a staff member. This year I gave it to the custodian who cleans my room. The kids were so excited to see him wear it. Next year. I'll have to give one to my own librarian whom I adore. :0)

Love the A.A. Milne saying on the shirt. 12/16/2019 12:24:00 pm
Thanks! I really love that quote, too, especially for kids. :0) Comments are closed.
