Not-So-Speedy Dressage

From Endurance to Dressage

Fancy Without Being Pricey

4/21/2017

Just about the time I think I have everything possible there is to own, I prove myself wrong. I recently came across a few things from the Riding Warehouse that I simply had to have.
Picture
I am in LOVE with this shirt.
Did you happen to notice the shirt I was wearing during my recent lesson? If not, you can see it in the photo above. Nice, huh?! It's the Horze Women's Trista UV Sun Functional Top/Shirt. I bought it in navy, but It comes in four other colors: blue, pink, white, and yellow.
Picture
I'll be totally honest. I bought it because it was cheapish. At $29.95 (cheaper since I used a Riding Warehouse discount), I was just hoping it was at least comfortable if not particularly high tech. At that price point, I didn't expect anything too technical. Boy was I wrong!

This thing is amazing! It is exceptionally lightweight without feeling flimsy, and as advertised, it is quick drying. It definitely feels like sportswear, rather than just being cute, so I didn't feel bad sweating in it. The fit is dead on without being boxy or too clingy. It feels ladylike while still covering up some of the (ahem) chunky.

With summer just around the corner, this is an awesome addition to my hot weather attire. I like that it has UV 30+ protection. I love my long sleeved sun shirts, but on the hottest days, even those are too hot to wear.

Now I just need to order it in another color ... or two or three!

Horze has been really stepping up their game in recent years! I remember when they first came on the scene and their stuff was super hit or miss on quality.

I do have a pair of their breeches, which I love, but with this shirt, that's it. I just haven't been drawn to their products much before. I'll be keeping a closer eye from now on.

You look like a model in a horsey magazine! What a great zipper front.

I'm trying desperately to find a mid-thigh length waterproof breathable riding rain coat. It's awful, I cannot find anything. I found one by Busse last night but it looks kind of crappy on the model in the shoulder area and if things look bad on models....then again I have massive shoulders....Check it out, a removable riding skirt. But how waterproof is it?

I spent some time tonight looking at waterproof breathe ability ratings. I had no idea. I guess you probably would never need this stuff cuz you live in the golden state. Just lately I've wondered why my horse can stay dry all Winter in his Horseware blankets, and I have to suffer with sweat or leaking. Why don't they make a 2400Denier jacket for people?

Thanks, Lytha. That jacket looks great! I remembered aways struggling to find good waterproof/breathable coats for endurance riding. They were always too hot or leaked. You're absolutely right. Why can't the rider get as good a jacket as the horse? :0)

Thanks for the review! I'm always on the lookout for deals on these types of shirts, but that base price is very reasonable.

I thought so! I went back to order the pink one but it's sold out in my size. :0(

I'm such a sucker I had to go and click right away to see if there might be some shopping for me too. Stuck at home sick now, and proud I've been able to keep from shopping. So far... :)

Just had to come back here, since I noticed there's a lot about Speedy lately. He really DOES look quite lovely. There's hope for us both! We just need to wait until our horses mature haha :)

It looks, and sounds, through the prior posts, as if Izzy has really made some headway as compared to late fall. Be proud!!! I keep posting pictures of my own tweet mare looking lovely, but in reality she leaks out energy everywhere, tweettles with her head, bulges her shoulders out, and sometimes (still!!!) comes to a complete stop. Just saying, in case you're wondering if everything is going perfect over here :)

I've had Speedy since he was a three year old, almost ten years now. He was a STINKER until he was about 8. And even as naughty as he was, he was still friendly and safe.

Izzy is now AMAZING! He can still be a jerk and his new work ethic hasn't been tested away from home, but we have definitely made it over this hump. You are absolutely correct, maturity is the solution, but it's not anything you can rush. :0)

I read all of your posts, but I do it from work as I shovel in my lunch which means I can't usually comment. It sounds as though things are on the right path with your mare though. As she matures, things will just fade away as she learns her job. :0)

Thanks for posting this! I've been eyeing these, but wasn't sure how quality was since these are so inexpensive (horse stuff has ruined me and how I view prices). Totally ordering some of these!

I don't know if I started a run on these or what, but their supply has disappeared! I am going to call and see if they're going to restock because I really want the pink one!
