Not-So-Speedy Dressage
From Endurance to Dressage
This blog is about three things: using endurance experience to make horse ownership, transport, and life easier; schooling and showing dressage to have fun and improve my riding; and looking at all aspects of equine health to make their lives better.
This is definitely an equine health post. When Sydney arrived, he was a bit too thin, had a few bedsores, and his feet were in pretty dismal shape. He's getting free choice hay, a daily beet pulp/rice bran mash, I've bedded his stall to help take the pressure off his scabbed-over hips, and I've been applying Scarlet Oil and fly spray to ease the scabs away. I couldn't do anything about his long toes, underslung heels, and off balance feet ... Enter the World's Greatest Farrier. You've met my vet, several times in fact. You've even met the chiropractor! And even though he's the World's Greatest, you've not yet seen my farrier in action. Here's a short video of the work that he does. And as often as I take photos, I forgot to take a "before" shot of Sydney's feet. You'll just have to believe me that his feet look MUCH better now! Comments are closed.
