Not-So-Speedy Dressage
From Endurance to Dressage
You know I'm pretty partial to black and white tack. I like white leg boots, white pads, black pads, black leg boots, and of course a black saddle and bridle. Black and white works really well on white horses. It also works on brown horses, but since I really haven't bought Izzy any new tack, aside from a Smartpak bridle, I decided to to be a little daring in his spring wardrobe. My mom sent me a hefty gift card for the Riding Warehouse, so I splurged a little on some new tack. Izzy got a second pair of DSB boots, this time in navy. Yeah, really! I didn't buy them in black ... He also got a new dressage pad, also in navy. I ordered the Weartherbetta Performance Dressage Saddle Pad in a lovely navy with gray and light blue piping. I've been using the pad and boots for the last week or so, and I have to say, they look really sharp. The light has been pretty low in the afternoons, so I haven't been able to get a good photo to show Izzy wearing his new clothes, but I am super happy with the color combination and am now searching for other navy pads!
I am even thinking of ordering Ovation's Glitz helmet (the one I already own in black and silver) but this time in navy. I also want a new pair of Roeckl gloves, also in navy with white piping. I still have some of my gift card left, but Riding Warehouse doesn't carry that particular helmet nor those gloves in that color. Maybe I need to give them a call ... Hello, Riding Warehouse?

So classy looking! And navy is almost black, so I'm pretty sure it counts. 1/30/2016 07:55:32 am
When I was competing in endurance, I rode in all kinds of wacky color combinations, so when I transitioned to dressage, the clean lines of black and white really appealed to me. I am starting to hanker for a bit more color now. ;0) 1/30/2016 07:58:07 am
I LOVE the pad. There are several features that I didn't pay attention to when I ordered it, but they are nice. The channel down the spine does seem to keep his back cooler, and the fabric doesn't get soaking wet. Izzy sweats A LOT, and with the other pads I use they get really wet. Whatever this one is made from, it seems to keep that from happening. I am thinking of getting another one.

Because of you I ordered my guy the DSB boots for Christmas and I love them!!! He seems to prefer them over the Profesional Sport Boots we had been using. They look sharp and now I want them in all different colors. Hello, Riding Warehouse?!?! It's me again😊 1/30/2016 07:59:53 am
I replied to Austen's comment above about how I like the pad, but essentially, I LOVE it. It's really pretty in person and wears quite nicely. :0)

Haha you'd probably hate riding with me. Everything I own (for schooling at home) is pink (for the grey horses) and royal purple (for the bay pinto). I am so in love with color! However, on my to but most is a sheepskin saddle pad. Pricey, but a goal :-D 1/30/2016 08:02:17 am
When I was still competing in endurance, I rode in lots of wild colors - leopard print, splashed paint, electric blue ... It's been fun to ride in simpler colors. Get the sheepskin saddle cover - I've owned many different versions and couldn't imagine spending hours on the trail without one. :0) 1/30/2016 08:03:26 am
I am going to call them today. Thanks for the tip! :0) 1/30/2016 08:28:29 am
I bought a bunch of pads for a while trying to figure out what size and style I preferred. I hadn't bought anything for Izzy which meant he was using some old ones. My favorite, a Steffen Peters pad was really faded and showing lots of wear along the edges of the pad. With a gift car, I felt that Izzy was due for his own pad. I really like this one!
