After several months filled with long work hours, shows, lessons, and a barn move I decided that I needed a weekend at our cabin away from riding, barn commitments, and household chores. Hubby agreed. I tend to be very driven (really?) and find it hard to take time to just sit around and be. Be still. Be quiet. Be relaxed. Be in the moment.
So here I sit. Outside the window I see forest, damp earth, and low slung clouds. Inside I hear only the sounds of heat warming up the cold walls. It's quiet. I feel tension draining away. My shoulders are dropping, my breathing is deepening, and my thoughts are quieting.
I will remember this moment the next time I slide into the saddle.
